September 11, 20205 yr Popular Post I built the fireplace/TV unit in the family room about two years ago but unfortunately due to ppp I did not allow enough space for the audio system. Of course I didn’t know at the time the added speaker system would be a mandate 👿 My fault for not mind reading again. Now there are wires to be hidden. The decision was made that there be an addition to the unit which will tie in the window valences with the fireplace/TV unit. So here we go. I’ll post pictures along the way. Paul
September 18, 20205 yr Author Popular Post Productive day in the shop. Finished the central piece with the ebony inlay and both wings which included the wiring for the lights. All that’s left is the moulding along the tops of the wings which will have the same ebony striping. Paul Edited September 18, 20205 yr by Masonsailor
September 18, 20205 yr how comfortable is having the TV that high relative to your eyes? I read long ago that the ideal location of a TV is the center of the TV even with your eyes, so you are not craning your neck looking up, nor having to stare down lower than you normally sit on your couch or favorite chair.

September 18, 20205 yr Author Getting down to the bottom of my ebony stash which is a real bummer. That ebony is from my fathers shop and possibly from my grandfathers Era. Now they sell it by the ounce 😒 Paul
September 26, 20205 yr Author Popular Post Good day yesterday making progress on the TV unit. The valences and lighting installed. Should be able to wrap it up today. Paul
September 29, 20205 yr Author Popular Post This project is finished. Trim applied and all problems with the lighting worked out. I think the room achieved the look she wanted which is an Art Deco/Empire effect. It used up a good portion of my ebony stash but I guess this house is what I have saving it for all these years. The RGB LED lights turned out better than I expected. Paul
September 29, 20205 yr BEAUTIFUL!! I think I'd look into wireless remote speakers. I've heard some that really sound great. Some are very small and produce excellent sound. They look great and do not need to be hidden. Edited September 29, 20205 yr by Ron Altier
