Introduction

A little-known benefit from the Interior Department gives military veterans with any disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs a free lifetime pass to national parks and other recreation areas, as well as discounts on some fees.

The lifetime Access Pass is advertised as available to those who "have been medically determined to have a permanent disability ... does not have to be a 100 percent disability."

Just to add to this as well certain states also offer discounts in some cases FREE and or reduced rates on all hunting and fishing licenses.  Youd have to find out the information certain places require a copy of the award letter from the VA showing proof of eligability.  Some states you have access to state land for free how ever some may not just have to look into the state requirements for those.

In Florida, disabled vets can get a free annual pass to all state parks.

I got a "senior pass" as soon as I qualified (age 62).  I think it was $10 for lifetime.   A few years ago, they went up to $80 + $10 fee.  Before that, I got one for my wife, too,
