This is the first wood I have worked with in a couple of weeks, I think. All done this morning from finding a picture of a spoon to what you see so far...I'm still in the roughing it in stage. Its about 10 inches long?  If I had have used maple I would still be in the drawing it up stage or somewhere there abouts..  First spoon I ever made out of wood!

There is a few borer holes in this piece and I think I will leave all that like it is.

I used 100 % tung oil thinned with 50% mineral spirits. Its hanging in the hoit sun. I put the first coat on about an hour ago and another just nows...Then will wait three or four days with another coat maybe not thinned as much. No stain or dye just plain mesquite.

And if anyone uses tung oil the excess needs to be wiped off after an hour or depending on the temp it is hanging in...I would think the puddles would turn thickish and not cure right. I will go back in a few minutes and use a blo gun to remove what hasn't soaked in this go around...I only use 100% tung oil and never the stuff that says tung oil has been added to all the other stuff. Yep thats me for I feel if someone just used beeswax as the only finish then he is wasting his time...

Came out very well.
