July 19, 20205 yr Popular Post Sparse picking opportunities this year with so many flea markets and festivals cancelled. But, the local shop has been open for business. Popped in a week or 2 back and found a few things. The saw filing jig is old for sure and I can only find bits bits and pieces on its history. Bummer that it is missing the file handle which should be easy enough to fabricate. It cleaned up to “useful again“ with a little brushing, wax and oil. The VG clamps are all about usefulness and came home the same day. Three are Vise Grip brand (the two large and one small)and work like new. The fourth is a knock off and behaves like one, popping open whenever I try to put real pressure on it. Can’t win them all and at the price paid, 3 of 4 is acceptable to be sure. Not too exciting for woodworking, but these things are really handy for to have around when I am welding.

July 20, 20205 yr Popular Post The Vise Grip brand has always proven to be the best. They are handy for woodworking too.

Cant lie....I have thrown several knock offs away either because of hand pinching or inability to actually lock. It can be aggravating. I have used smaller ones for cutting box joints to hold pieces on the jig and it worked well enough. The total damage was 20 bucks for the pile so I feel ok with that.

July 23, 20205 yr Author Popular Post I got to thinking about this some more and on my stop yesterday, I paid some additional on the two large clamps. I have a good relationship with the store operator and felt it the right thing to do. Want to keep good terms and like to be fair. I underestimated the value on these. Still a good deal for all.

Not perfect but seems complete. I think you mentioned being short on your saw of having one. Don’t know what shipping would run but you can have it if you want to cover that or could pick it up too? It’s lightly tweaked at the top but should straighten easily enough to make the fit better. I’m not going to use it and need to start getting control of the shop mess. Let me know. The White House paint and rust are free and I will cover shipping on those! Lol!

July 25, 20205 yr And also when I spread the v18sp out and clamp 8 to 9 inches on the scroll saw jewelry boxes I build some of the clamps will not stay clamped. Most guys never use them on that wide clamping so they probably never run in to that problem.

Pretty high on the shop aggravation scale for me when it’s a case of everything measured, parts set just right, clamps set, Make a move, and “kerchunk!” 😡🤬 While I’m here, probably should clear up whether “kerchunk” is a word or a sound? Bet others have been there. 😜😂😜 Edited July 26, 20205 yr by Bundoman
