June 21, 20205 yr Popular Post Back in 2014 someone gave me a old house furnace fan assembly. At the time I made a quick sled and put in under my crawlspace. Had a timer to go off every 4 hours for 30 minutes. Works well on dealing with damp musty smell. Well the fan motor died. So I had to drag it out and decided now was good time to do some rehab work. Replaced a few pieces that as scrap were okay but since I had to drag it out for the motor, we are fixing it up. Buddy gave me a new motor he had unused so I installed that after I painted the framework. Wiring needed some cleaning up. And finally done screwing with the motor I set the cage so it sits correctly. Then plugged it in and turned it on. OOOPS. Had this on my bench and pointed toward ceiling. Instant Sawdust Storm. Even the cat that sleeps in the loft came down and left. Dragged it back into the crawlspace and put it back and plugged it up. All done, just took a few days to get everything in order.
June 21, 20205 yr Gunny, that makes me wonder if this will blow out radon gas. If that works, that is an excellent idea. Great job on the project.

If you open a window once and awhile you will rarely have radon issues. My wife and I like the windows open when possible. Mostly I use this for the musty smell and to keep the humidity down. Works well.
June 21, 20205 yr Nice set up Gunny. It appears that you have about as much crawl space as I have; 2-3 feet We were getting critters in our crawl space so we sealed off the vents and installed a dehumidifier.

But I did call my friend that does HVAC for tips on checking the old one. Was bad, had another one and tried with motor, it just stared at me, all insulting like....
