June 3, 20206 yr Popular Post I am still in the box world and I just realized the quality of wood determines if a person is happy when he or she is in the shop...Maybe I'm making a secret drawer for this box. When working on a new and different style box I leave as many joints unglued as much as I possibly can... This is where Baltic Birch is king....Its great to work with. I use one 23 gage pin in each piece of wood except for the drawer and it is the only thing glued. I knew when I started making these smaller carving pieces they would come in handy. Once I get the area sized for decorations then I can take these pieces to rapid resizer and either enlarge or reduce them to fit where needed. My wife needed more frames for her work yesterday and I am so glad we ended up in Temple ,Tx one day many years ago. This was a salvage store from a large cabinet maker and they had many rooms full of new doors and door frames for all types of cabinets. This was at least 20 years ago and door frames for 2 dollars each we loaded that pickup down. Wife kept asking why I was buying so many and now all these years later she has been supplied with new frames for her glass work anytime she needs them. My pickup has an 8 foot bed with a camper shell so two more trips to Temple got us full of supplies. We found out about this store while going through the first Monday sale each month at Canton ,Tx. which I guess is one of the largest used garage sale type businesses there is.
