Black & Decker 7614 router problem

Featured Replies

Have a Black & Decker 7614 router that set idle for a long time. Is in almost new condition. Will turn by hand. But will not start when pressing trigger.

If you have dirt dobbers in your area this might be the problem....Things I don't use very often I just go ahead and take the time to check and use the air compressor before I ever flip the switch. And sometimes it takes some long skinny prods to loosen them up... I now use plastic bags on stuff not used often...

If in a damp location possible corrosion at contact points.  Really to know more you will need to open it up and check for power to trigger and then the wire that goes to motor itself. You can guess all day till you test that far.

Sounds like corrosion on the trigger contacts. If you can fins some contact cleaner spray, it might do the trick.

Thanks for all the replies. No dirt dabbers.  I was hoping I would not have to dig into it.... but.

Will get out the contact spay and hope that will do it. I hope.............thanks again.

Dig in and post results or further questions.  I walk people through diagnosing such problems regularly.  If I can get my 15 year old daughter through a outlet repair over the phone I figure I am not too bad.

I will admit afterwards some alcoholic refreshment was in order.:JawDrop:

You might try pulling the brushes, wipe, replace.?
