May 5, 20206 yr Popular Post I had posted that Gunny was nice enough to give me a couple of mobile bases he had that were no longer in use. I needed one for a sander, and he sent the bases to me. After looking the bases over and comparing the sander's stand to both of them, it look like the HTC base was the better choice but it needed to be modified a little. As built the base had the tool foot pads on the outside of the frame. I needed them to go, and replace with foot pads on the inside, the frame dimensions were quite close to what I needed. So, I cut the ld foot pads off and then took the frame to a local welding shop. He made some gussets adn added a cross brace to the front end of the base. Total bill: $36! ($6 for materials, and $30 for the welding). So here's what I wound up with: The orginal frame and you can see the front foot pads, then the cross brace and the gussets added to the front, the back cussets, the entire frame with gussets, adn how well the new stand fit in the frame. Really worked out well, and again many thanks to Gunny for the stand.
May 5, 20206 yr For a customized frame not bad at all. $36 you did okay. glad to see they are getting used. Have you given the sander a test drive??
May 5, 20206 yr Author Not really, I haven't got the stuff to hook the DC up, and I actually haven't completely assembled the sander yet. It cme wth a 60 grait belt and disk, and I would prefer an 80 (or maybe 100) grit belt....so I also need to order that from somewhere.

That came off quick. Bit too heavy. Have a 100 grit on it currently.
