We bought three new cordless drill last year and all three have the little led lights but!!!! Was any maker smart enough to have a two step trigger so the light would come on when needed like when trying to position the phillips in the head of the screw.

I just wonder if any drill user was behind the adding of the small lights that point where the bit is needed....for sure not on the drills we bought, so does any one have a drill where the light comes on before the chuck starts turning.

I some times have a small flashlight that I hold in my mouth. Or, it's small enough to hold in my hand to help.

My Bosch driver does have a two step trigger.

DeWalt. Both my drill and driver.

Cheaper than a new drill

My Ridgid set does, but it took my 5 year old grandson to point it out to me.

My Porter Cable light come on first.  I have noticed that other brands that I have tried, at  HD and Lowes, the lights are not positioned to shine where you are drilling. My drill doesn't do a good job shining directly where I am drilling either.

It really isn't a useful light. I think the one that Harbor Freight did shine well and was useful

I have a Milwaukee M12 drill.  I am pretty sure the light comes on first, but like Ron said about his PC - it doesn't really shine where the point of the bit is.

I have 2  Black & Decker 20v Li drills, both have a LED light that comes on as you first pull the trigger....and, the light shines up from below, and lights up where the tip is working.

Works for me....(about $40 or so each....a bit more for the one with 2 batteries...)   one of the two has a 2 speed gear box.

I have the one with two speeds. Works okay. Keep a 1/8 drill bit in it all the time for pilot ,/ alignment holes. Other drills have other bits or countersink.

My DeWalt does ok but the light only goes on for a short time. Found a headlight with a comfortable headstrap when I'm inside cabinets or in a basement. Handsfree and always there. Now if they could make the batteries last forever I wouldn't have any problems.
