Director Baton Case

One of our choir members came to me and stated our director had a baton he had custom made while in school.  He would leave it on the table behind him and it would constantly fall.  He mentioned to this indvidual that he hoped it would not break.  She came to me and asked if I could make something to hold his baton.  Well this is what I came up with.  HE LOVED IT!!!!

I found this treble cleff with cross and loved it - thought it was so appropriate

Designed this lid in Photoshop

This is after carving into lid and sealing with 3 coats of poly

This is the staining process - glob it on, and wipe it off - LOL

This is after wiping the stain off - stain on surface wipes clean since it was sealed, stain stays in the carved areas (i use gel stain for this)

I then created an insert to hold the baton - decided to hand carve this as well

Stunnning! Beautiful work!

That's a great looking piece Irish. Question, it may be obvious but I'll ask, are you sealing the wood and then do the carving?

A really nice job, by a really nice guy.

Great job. Glad to see you back.

No, carving first, then seal "everything" - especially in the groves to seal it so stain dont creep.  Then stain, then poly again to seal the stain in after stain dries.

Beautiful work.

слава тобі, Господи

Woe,  that is fantastic! Well done!
