February 8, 20206 yr Never payed attention to it till now that the B&D work bench was made from Bamboo plywood or we called it Boo-ply.Not a cheap product...
February 8, 20206 yr Nice! My 25 years old one appears to have particle board. That one looks fairly new....I think that says B&D is improving their tools (! ). Edited February 8, 20206 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
February 8, 20206 yr I bought a used one maybe 20+ years ago. I'm away from home now, but think it's solid wood top. I got a benchtop model given to me later It has come in handy, but has metal V-jaws and plastic table surface (sort of like Trex). The nice thing about the table top model is that the surface tilts to 45 degrees if you want it to. I'd been carrying it in my work van, but normally, I'd use a little floor workstation (18"x24" box, an H-shaped stand off to one side with two 1x3-ish hardwood surfaces on the top. I'd use it for sawing by hand, drilling, pocket holes, etc. It would hold the sawdust and some tools while I worked. The top surface gap left a place to hold a squarish board (like a sofa leg) or even a round dowel. It was easier to get that out and do the work right there in someone's living room than to go outside and do the dirty work or vac up after myself. Sort of a cross between a Japanese bench (sat on floor) and a bench hook. ( also had a mini bench hook that fit on top that I would use if I needed a relatively square cut or smaller diameter round pieces.) I made it one day in the winter when there was a level 3 snow emergency (that in Cincinnati, means more than 2 and less than 8 inches of snow -- people here love to panic)
