February 5, 20206 yr I want to by pass the variable speed. Seems my out- board router speed control won't work on any of my variable speed tools.t's in a sealed box for DC. So manual access would require I build a door. I already own the outboard speed controller so I'd like to use that. Know a way to by pass it?
February 5, 20206 yr Cliff, I was looking at the exploded view of that router and ereplacements parts claims the switch is one of the reasons the variable speed doesn't work. It's not terribly expensive ($17, but the shipping may be a little steep) and may be worth trying that...you might have to replace it anyway to over-ride the VS function.
February 5, 20206 yr Author thanks for that. The variable speed on the router works fine. I must have phrased my op clumsily. I want to control speed remotely. I think I'll build a gizmo that lets me push the button back and forth VIA bike cables that will allow the router to move up and down and still affirmatively let me manipulate the sliding speed control switch
February 6, 20206 yr Cliff, I wonder if setting the speed to its highest level first then using your outboard control, would work. For most operations, My 7518 speed is set once and not changed until the job's done. Edited February 6, 20206 yr by Gene Howe
