January 22, 20206 yr Bob Flexner writes a weekly blog at the PWW website. But there hasn't been anything new since early December. I thought maybe it was just a break over the holidays, but there's still no new info. I can't help but wonder if this is yet another sign of the struggles they are going through. All the printed media is struggling, but PWW did some things to shoot itself in the foot hastening the decline.

Love em! Mortise & Tenon Magazine WWW.MORTISEANDTENONMAG.COM MORTISE & TENON magazine seeks to bridge the worlds of furniture maker, conservator, and scholar. M&T is published...
January 22, 20206 yr PWW has been a train wreck for about 5 years. I dropped them because of so many errors in their print mag.
January 23, 20206 yr I'm down to only Woodcraft and, Woodsmith. Poor ol' Woodsmith seems to be slowly succumbing to the need for ads. Can't really fault them.
January 24, 20206 yr PopWood intellectual property was sold to Woodsmith during their parent company's bankruptcy (F+W Publishing). I knew most of the people that worked there and keep in touch with most of them. Most of the stuff they're posting now are reruns from the last 10 years. I think a lot of the "contributing editors" were worried about getting paid for their contributions. But I know Chris Schwarz pulled the plug a while ago, but don't know how much he had in the pipeline. Unfortunately, he's been so busy, he isn't having open houses at LAP until mid summer.

Chris Schwarz purchased a building in the historic district of Covington, KY, right across the river from downtown Cincinnati. He rehabbed the first floor from what he said had been a lesbian bar, and last year when his youngest went off to college moved into the second and third floors with his wife, Lucy. January 30, 20206 yr Yes, there is a large area near downtown Cincinnati called "Over the Rhine" It was originally bisected by a canal (since turned into a street) and populated, like much of Cincinnati, by German Immigrants in the late 19th century. The last 10 years or so it has become the center of rehab and a hot spot for millennials and such yuppies. About 5 years ago, I walked around and about 2 of every 3 buildings was boarded up. Right now, some of the townhouses are going for seven figures. Covington, just a walk across the Roebling bridge (designed and built after the Civil War and became a prototype for the Brooklyn Bridge) over the Ohio River is Covington, that is undergoing a similar renaissance. Chris's place is a block off Mainstrasse (catch the German influence there?) another hot spot of restaurants, shops, and bars. There are still a lot of buildings, especially churches, with German engraved on them, though a lot of the streets and church names were renamed during the hatred brought about during WWI. I'm not a native here, nor German (but my wife is), but lived here for 40 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over-the-Rhine Edited January 30, 20206 yr by kmealy

Yeah, well topics veering off on tangents is common. We should rate them 1-10 by how long they stay on-topic. "You know,..." veer...................................................
