Lathe chuck key keeper

Featured Replies

I'm wondering where most woodturners keep their chuck key. Since I have had no instructions and am self taught, maybe there is a standard place and I just don't know. I have a two pin type chuck and keep the pins magnetically attached in a convenient place.

WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR KEY?

(The push button switches are wireless remote vacuum switches.)

On my old setup, I drilled some holes in the benchtop for the Easy Wood Chuck wrenches (yellow "T" handle)

Not sure how I'll handle it when the new lathe gets here.

I attached a strong magnet to the side of my drill presses years ago and will do the same to my lathes and mill next time I go to HF. Every time I go I forget about the magnets but got it wrote on my forehead for the next time I go!

I am the oddball.  Have mine in a drawer just under the lathe.  :JawDrop:

Mine is in a hole on my DC chute. This is it on the right.1424379600_DClathebox.JPG.7cc4658a302abb9f6cc621f3273d7f6c.JPG

Mine is usually on the floor, hiding under chips after I've dropped it for the 500th time......

I did not take the time to go around and picture all my 12 drill presses

but I snapped a few shots of key storage...

I have a stand I keep the tools I am currently using and the chuck key hangs on the side of it.

Dan, if I had all those chuck keys............I'd still find a way to lose most of them:D
