Those clamps have broadened my grasp of four letter words immensely!

Got me but I'll give a WAG.  Helps getting the seams together on stove pipe. 

Log gripper....missing 2 pins, that lock the jaws in place..

 

Does look kind of painful...doesn't it...

I think you might be on to something here, looks about Eastlake Period. ….Might be a fireplace tong.

Ehh…...After doing several hundred thousand of them on the assembly line... they got to be pretty easy.
