September 1, 20196 yr Popular Post My wife put the cover on the burn barrel awhile back. Seems the fire was not done and the wooden barrel top well, it burned... Now that I am done with the deck this can be fixed. We like the cover to keep the stuff inside from getting wet until we burn. Also the cats seem to enjoy yet another perch so hey a win win situation. Broke out my circle cutting jig for bandsaw and proceeded to cut two pieces of 3/4 plywood neighbor gave me. Two nice neat circles one undersized to fit the lip so it stays put. Rounded the edges on the router table and did some light sanding. Glued and screwed it together, used the 1/4 hole for the jig as my centering mark and done. Next up is paint. Nothing fancy just a task that needed to get done. Sure was nice to have the jig ready to go.

September 2, 20196 yr Popular Post Wow. "Burn Barrel": takes me back to oooooold days, burning classified docs and PAL cards. Sarge confirmed that gasoline is not a good fire starter (he lost his eyebrows...I already knew the trick).
September 3, 20196 yr We use a chiminea for burning canceled checks, old bills and any of those drug sheets that come with the medicine. Also, we burn all credit card and bank statements. After it is burned, sprayed the remains with a hose and it will disintegrate into unusable ash. And, city code allows it because it could be for parties, roasting and such. Just in case: https://www.lakeside.com/NFL---Sporting-Goods/Camping---Hunting/Outdoor+Clay+Chimineas/prod3300027.jmp?mrkgcl=888&mrkgadid=3207991734&cid=GooglePLA-688399013&ukwcid=+&product_id=688399013&adpos=1o5&creative=195529594441&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CjwKCAjwnrjrBRAMEiwAXsCc49WH8l1vQGqH9KZLA88ZsWVnnlC_xd-Qo68Szce7eCDgcD7J5kl3GRoC10MQAvD_BwE

September 4, 20196 yr Author Project now complete, another one checked of the list. Don't even ask how many more to go. At least 3 lifetimes. 2 coats of Deck Over, gives a semi rough surface like used on the deck.

September 4, 20196 yr Popular Post We had a burning barrel many, many years ago and your barrel made me think of the biggest rat I'd ever seen. I didn't have a nice cover like yours and critters could get in. One evening I went to the barrel after hearing noises from it, when the barrel had not been used for a while. I peaked in to see a huge monster size rat, that was trapped in my barrel. I didn't want to tip it over, a rat that size could do a lot of damage. As luck would have it, a neighbor saw me and came over. I told him about that huge rat and he peaked in. He smiled and told me that the world's largest rat...............was an opossum.
