August 30, 20196 yr Popular Post I whipped this out in about ten minutes...which was too thick for my porter cable # 2012 dove tail machine to handle... but with a only a few mistakes.
August 30, 20196 yr Author Popular Post Okay, I did it again and after walking out to the shop I find it is not a 2012, its a # 4212.
August 31, 20196 yr Jess, what was your technique here? Did you use the router gauge for this project? The joinery looks good from here!
August 31, 20196 yr Author Popular Post Cal I used the table saw and drew out the lines while all three pieces were lined up end to end against each other then used the gage to set the height of the saw blade. Then cut them with the table saw. I like to go a hair extra deep so when the pieces are glued up they can be sanded smoothed. The part I was talking about is the middle piece is cut wrong on one end or the other for they don't match each other... and for this it don't matter for they will end up as carved pieces and won't show so much...the joinery is great for they have to be hammered together with no gaps. A real wood worker would have cut the center board so both ends matched.
August 31, 20196 yr Popular Post Perhaps instead of calling it a box joint, we can call it the Jesse joint. Danl
