This is not even a dream as the price range is so over my head, but this would really be nice for high mileage and handicapped folks.  Take a gander at this.  It's been around for some years and maybe some post is buried here on this forum.

Almost everything I do in my shop I sit down to do....Just not in a big hurry anymore and I enjoy it more than ever.

Does that site look a little strange to you....all those bowls and not one chip on the floor or on him.. bet his wife is pleased...

Well, his right side of his jeans are dirty.  Will that count?  :D

I never saw this one before.  Looks like a new improved design over ones I have seen in the oast.

The Robust Scout can also be setup as a handicap lathe. There is a plan to build a handicap sstand out there somewhere but I cannot find that right now.

I have a Jet mini and standing was not for me. I lowered it and use a stool on wheels to sit and turn.............works great.

A 10x14 perhaps?  Have one myself, wonderful piece of equipment.

This is my setup, Lew gave me some advise with it too. I have problems standing and this was a great option for me.

One idea that I truly like about the Oneway, it still has the weight regardless of the configuration.

Local Lathe maker here in Australia, get quality product, I have seen blokes in wheelchairs to use it and they loved it.

Pretty weighty at 400 pound 36 inch long with a 16 inch swing. But only 3 speeds not what will make an impact and looks like to me handicapped would need more speed variance.

Greetings Gerald

The lathe comes complete with an electronic variable speed unit, got 3 belt settings and variable speed control unit.

For me using that slanted style I would have to have a roll around portable table on each side of me for all the things I use with the lathe. I know that is just a picture but not a user friendly machine...

I looked at it on the website and I don't see an option to set it up for a non-handicapped person.  Unless, you could turn the bottom portion of the legs around or swap them end for end.  The Oneway will work for either a handicap person or will stand upright as a normal lathe.  I do like the variable speed motor.  This does have some great options but as Gerald said, it is limiting to the American woodworker.  Thanks.
