July 15, 20196 yr Daughter #2 has requested a marble/granite lazy susan. About 12" to 18" in diameter My dilemma---- a remnant from a counter top is 3/4" to 1" thick and will be kinda heavy and chances are I'll not be able to cut it with what I have at hand. So I was thinking of a floor tile. Cut it with a diamond jigsaw blade. Has anyone cut a circle into stone with good results? What did you use and how much of a PIA was it? The stone top will be attached to the mechanism with construction adhesive and then to wood base with screws. Edge I can treat with the diamond disks that I have. Thoughts? Comments? U tube has limited video---that I can find. thks smitty
July 15, 20196 yr Just a thought. How about using corian? Lighter and much easier to work than stone.

July 15, 20196 yr If you are talking about cutting 1" thick marble or any other stone with a diamond jig saw blade you better take a large amount of money for it will take many blades before you get all the way around that circle... my wife uses a diamond blade on her band saw to cut 1/8" thick glass and it makes that cut very slowly. Maybe two or three days on something what you are speaking of... Either use Corian like Gene suggested or take the stone to a shop that installs them and see what they suggest. I have a round 16" diamond blade I bought for cutting relief crack lines in flat concrete but that thing cost over five hundred dollars many years ago. A good finished wooden lazy susan should fit right in to the décor. Edited July 15, 20196 yr by Smallpatch
July 15, 20196 yr All that rock dust in a wood working shop might be good if a person wanted to replace all their electric tools?? Lew how would you get the rock kinda round so your jig would take over??

I've seen videos of cutting wood circle but not stone.

I was thinking more of a method to hold it and use a jigsaw. I don't think the tablesaw would be a good idea. But maybe if you had a tile saw, hmmm, I wonder if that would work?
July 16, 20196 yr Corian at 1/2 thick can be had fairly inexpensively. For this you mentioned 12-18 inches in diameter. I have some 1/2 thick, in a white that would work for this project. Also have a circle cutting jig for the bandsaw and a blade that would make this cut. It can be done, have done before. NOT with stone, but I have done plenty of wooden and Corian circles and odd shapes. If you want a square of that size in Corian PM me, glad to send it to you. If you want me to cut the circle, no problem, already have jig. Used a couple of days ago. Do note that the bottom will have a 1/4 hole used to find center for jig.
