Popular Post Smallpatch
I thought for sure they looked exactly alike till I had them meet at the table saw. Maybe next time I can substitute a few things and at least have them looking like they came from the same family.. Also she said the wood wings were more stable in high winds where the wire wings would whistle at high speeds and make her GPS do strange things.. I do remember when I was a kid and in a great big sand storms the screen wire on the doors would howl and hiss making all kinds of noises... Finally I am getting to use some of the rocks we gathered from each state right after we retired and thought that was the thing to do. Go through each state and load up a rock when no one was looking....not even sure if that was legal or not but we had to have something to remember why we liked or disliked all those states with different names...drive 380 from Hondo to Carrizozo New Mexico and these flat lava beds stretch for miles and miles. A person will never get to see the beauty of America if they go by plane! How me missed Wis-con-son I just don't know? Aw those wood floors I grew up in. You could see the ground between each board. Yes, that was our air conditioning... At least while driving through these flat lava beds it will sure work on a persons brain. Just how did the lava go the 40 or 50 miles on flat land before it cooled and stopped moving. There are no tall volcanos around in sight anywhere... Also on I-40 in Arizona and New Mexico there is more flat lava.... Gerald
Until I had a close look in the second pic I thought they had cloth clothes. A very creative wing on them. Artie and Cal

Cal
Very nice Jess. I think your's is the better of the two as she doesn't have sharp lines - but maybe they have irons "up there"... When I seen the first pic I thought you really outdone yourself on making the rock look realistic
Smallpatch
Cal I studied those sharp lines and decided a cnc machine cut those but I like the human touch much better. I think I now have every book ever made on faces but that don't make my brain take over and reproduce anything close. We got lots of stories on gathering all the rocks. Stealing them seems a little too strong... And then trying to keep wife from throwing them away when I'm not looking... She did say she was glad I kept digging them back out of the trash can after I came in with the piece of lava rock the angel is standing on...I did have to flatten both the top and bottom but I used the bench grinder with a wire brush attached after I ground them flat and kind of made it all look the same.. The halo is attached using a .028 thousandths drill bit drilling two holes then two .028 thousandths 3/4" brads into the holes with a little glue added ……..
