Ornament experiment

I got another idea about how to make different designs on turned pieces, an ornament in this case.

The whole piece is Oak, next time I'd use Maple. I turned it to where I thought it looked OK and then filled the pores for a smoother surface (that is why I'll use Maple next time) From there I made the designs with stain, latex paint and clear lacquer spray. It is a long process because things have to dry before I could proceed. I kinda like it.

It gave me more ideas of paint/stain blending. Don't know if I'll continue down that road or not. It was fun, but it takes time to dry between applications.

very artistic...   nice

Good to have you back, hope  you are 100% better now

Must have missed this somehow. I like the effect you accomplished with this piece. Did you brush on color?

I did some color work last week and hope to have finish on in 2-3 days. Kinda fell on one design and will explain when I post.

Sadly, it has returned, just not as strong and I am able to sit here for a few hours and browse on all that I missed.  This is beautiful work.  I have a piece of live oak that I'm going to check tomorrow after the glucose tolerance test.  What fun that is going to be!  Enough about me.  Back to the thread of marvelous work.

Hope you can shake this, whatever it is Steve.

Got to get you straightened out . Maybe a referral is due. Hope this time works

The young doctor said she has a plan and explained enough to see the future if this antibiotic doesn't knock it out.  They will culture it and if this medicine needs to be changed, she will call and send another prescription.  Yes, I'm special as she said this does not normally happen to men.  Must be something funny about me.    No one has ever told me that before.

Thank you for your concerns and prayers.  Will update you when I know something on another thread.  Now back to the original thread.
