Dust allergies

Featured Replies

I do have wood dust allergies and I am very careful with exotic and unusual woods when turning, sawing and sanding. Not so careful with common woods I've used for years. I've been doing good, but lately my allergy is bad. I reviewed what I had been turning (colored ply) and how I handled it. Maybe I wasn't as careful with it as with the exotic woods. Then it occured to me........I have NO idea what woods the ply is made of or if it is a consistent ingredient. I am now finished with it, but from this point forward I will be extra careful if I turn it. I don't like to turn it as well as regular wood, it is inconsistent, has defects and sometimes unpredictable. The main reason I turn it is that the wood was a Christmas gift and have to show something I made from it:D

(I will post it in a few days)

I do not see anything in that except the birch and glue. Maybe you are allergic to glue, but more than likely your seasonal allergies have just gotten heightened due to conditions such as pollen and all this rain we have had this spring.

The real odd part of all this........I took 2 allergy tests where they tape different allergens to your back. The results were conclusive................I have NO allergies. However he prescribed meds for my non allergy.
