Was amused by this manufacturer's description, and the wonderful warranty.

I don't even own a jointer but, that blade description makes me want one just so I could get those.

Well that's a lot of smoke.

After some reflection, it becomes clear that you can't blow mirrors into the same orifices smoke goes. :D

I have learned from the master!!!

I have the Shopsmith joiner.  It is a wonderful tool on woods.  And, yes, I always use the guard.  I can imagine what it would do to a hand.  :(

Very scary indeed.  And yet some idiot has stuck his hand inside one, because it seemed like a good idea at the time...…...:JawDrop:

I have one, haven’t used it yet :)  But soon I will work up to that.

Tomorrow is calling.   :D

Old jointers with square heads could swallow a hand but properly used worked fine.

Given their ability to cause human damage the round ones came out with no more the 1/16" of the blade exposed.

That does limit your cut but also saves you.

i had a knotty peice of wood that actually trashed a jointer knife when then destroyed the wood and the infeed and out feed tables and the guard.  Thankfully I heard it hit and my hands were ahead of the line of fire as they are supposed to be when feeding material.

Thankfully the damage to the metal bits was neglible and some sand paper properly applied fixed the deformed metal.  The blade however was toast.  Or ordered a new set of knives and only use carbide tipped and now can swap out up to two blades if they get chipped.

I should note I have a DJ-20 8" jointer when correctly tuned has no snipe and in general is a joy to use.
