May 20, 20197 yr Popular Post Had a good weekend. Had our monthly dinner and get together with my brother and sisters. Was a real nice time. Got all the wet areas of grass cut. The rain held off for three days straight finally. Gathered the ingredients to try copper coating. Want to find time for that this week. We'll see. Also need to make a walking cane for a friend. Have plans to make it two piece.
May 20, 20197 yr Popular Post Not much got done in the shop after the turning club meeting Saturday too tired to go and then rain Sunday. Looking forward to a full afternoon in shop. Working at a job thru my shop time for two days this week so not much available this week. Will be roughing out more offering plates and turning the scraped into small friendship bowls .
May 20, 20197 yr Popular Post Great fun in the shop. Made a slew of box joints that don't fit. No biggie. Just plywood. Recalibration of the tool..and brain .... on the agenda today. Hope to get the mesquite cut and planed tomorrow. Should have the semblance of a box by Friday. Son, DIL and newest grandkid will be here Friday evening. No shop work till the following Tuesday.
May 20, 20197 yr Popular Post Haven't been to the shop for a while....was a bit too damp the last few days. Monday? All the idiots are out on the streets..and not all are even in a car. Old grill gazebo was blown over in all that wind...have to move it into the shed. Have to assemble a new grill gazebo....when the winds die down. Wake me up, when Tuesday shows up..
May 20, 20197 yr Popular Post Working on the old desk between Can't leave anything sitting out Mother Nature must be watching, if I just turn my back and forget she gets it all wet!
May 21, 20197 yr Had errands to run so no shop time. My only woodworking? Burning a root I found that has some wicked fingers going everywhere. Gave up on trying to cut it. Drilled 47 holes, soaked with special blend and let it burn. Can't be in my way if it is ash!!!
May 21, 20197 yr No shop time, but a neighbor gave me a few dowels. Win! On the remainder of the weekend, got both lawns mowed, some bushes and overgrowth trimmed. Took the grandchildren to the park both days and cooked meals for them as well as us. Made 2 lasagnas which I didn't cook long enough but it was ok. Today, went to the oral surgeon and they are debating whether to shave off the tops of the roots or extract and make a bridge. Either way, it's gonna hurt the mouth and wallet. Ugh!
May 21, 20197 yr Arts Alive show over the weekend. After packing up at the end on Sunday, came home and fell in the recliner and didn’t move for a while. Monday we started on filling some orders from the show. My two sons got two Cedar Green Egg tables finished and I worked on engraving a couple of cutting boards.
May 23, 20197 yr Another cloudy, blustery day. Good day to be in the shop. But then, what day isn't? Made some mistakes in my whiskey box prototype. Should just trash it. But, having too much fun fixing it. Found out the DW 735 with the Shelix head can plane walnut to a thickness of 3 playing cards. Great for filling the gaps in my mis cut box joints. But, I'll not be making it a normal practice. still hoping to get some mesquite cut today. Time will tell.
