Popular Post Smallpatch Posted April 2, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Finished installing this guy in his barn yard. Just what the lady of the house ordered.... Yep the biscuits were the problem again... maybe I'll learn someday.. I will stain the bottom a dark color so it won't show where the gaps are visible before he gets glued down so he won't run off while searching for the love of his life... It took a while designing his feathers but thanks to the Dremel it was fun. After I glued the pieces down on some cardboard it was more than five days I had finished coloring and spraying them and that is too long and the glue was a bugger taking if off....I usually remove the glue the next day. Did I mention the bottles of coloring had a made in the USA on most of the bottles. Edited April 2, 2019 by Smallpatch Grandpadave52, Artie, Cal and 6 others 9 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 The colors are phenomenal Patch especially with the enhancements to the feathers. It gives the illusion of varying degrees of depth. After seeing the 'ole boy competed, his eye isn't creepy anymore. Cal 1 Quote
Smallpatch Posted April 2, 2019 Author Report Posted April 2, 2019 Dave the good part of these colors from Michaels they cost about 30 for twenty different colors then by the time one mixes from that, no telling how much of a rainbow can be had.. I was not impressed with the colors that had glitter mixed in for there was not much stain included in those... Grandpadave52, Cal and Gunny 3 Quote
Gene Howe Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 Gorgeous bird, Jesse. The wife's choice for the background was spot on. Cal and Grandpadave52 2 Quote
Dadio Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 That is one realistic looking rooster, the feathers are fantastic, you get better every time. It may have took longer than anticipated but it shows up in the end product. GOood Job! Herb Grandpadave52, Cal, Gunny and 1 other 4 Quote

They seem more vivid than previous. Maybe because my glasses are clean for a change. Edited April 2, 2019 by Grandpadave52 typo Gunny and Cal 2 Quote

I'll do some searches here....Now that you mention it, I seem to recall that post a while back. I assume the paints were in the Art section at Michael's? Given me a few ideas for a project or two. Of course we'll need temperatures above freezing 24/7 before I can do much. Cal 1 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted April 2, 2019 Report Posted April 2, 2019 Thanks Patch...Interesting colors. Would be cool for next year's Pinewood Derby car(s). I've got a couple of other ideas brewing...probably should write them down somewhere. Took a picture of your picture with my phone. That way I can show the teenagers working there exactly what I'm looking for. I'll put it on a Shopping Memo List in my phone too...Helps me remember what I wanted to remember the next time I'm in the "big city." Thirty-five +/- miles away each way. I only get there a couple of time/month at most now. Before I retired I was there almost every day. My memory didn't have to be as long back then. Dadio, Artie, Cal and 1 other 2 2 Quote
