March 7, 20197 yr Hey, here's hoping someone can help me out. I've been doing a lot of woodburning and artwork this past month and most of what i'm doing is repeatable patterns. My fingers have taken a beating transferring the patterns onto wood with carbon paper and a pen. I came across the idea that if I had a stencil I could not only speed up the time it takes but maybe I could save my poor fingers from cramping so much. I'd be willing to pay for the stencils made from my jpeg's so if anyone has a way to make them let me know. THANKS in advance...
March 7, 20197 yr Mike I don't know if this will help you, but have you tried "PyroPaper? You can print out the pattern on your printer, either from scans or screenshots. Then tape it to your board and burn right through it. It is relatively inexpensive around $10./50 sheets https://www.woodburnerscatalog.com/Pyro_Paper_p/9982.htm Herb

I also put the designs on boxes, and cabinets, drawers and other wood and paint them or sometimes I even carve them.
March 7, 20197 yr Popular Post Here is an easy way to transfer designs if you use a laser printer. If you have an ink jet, just use an iron.
March 7, 20197 yr Popular Post Looks like Gene beat me to it. This process works well. Laser printers are cheap, now, and getting cheaper. You won't need a real expensive one and the included laser cartridge is usually good for about 2000-2500 copies. Replacement cartridges can get you into the 5000 copy range.
March 9, 20197 yr I don't know if this will work for what you are doing. When I scroll saw I cover the wood with blue painters tape. Then I spray glue over the tape. Then I stick my printed pattern to that. After it is cut out the tape and pattern on the project pull off easy.

I've been meaning to step into the 21st century with this, it's still stuck in the back of my head that laser printers are expensive, and the replacement cartridges are too, but dang, 2000 to 2500 copies, that's awesome! I'm lucky to get perhaps a few hundred copies out of our HP Envy printer, then those replacement sets are around 45 bucks.
March 10, 20197 yr Author I have found a few places online that make custom stencils (lasercut) but was hoping one of our members had a lasercutter. wanted to keep the money in the group. I might buy some special wood for lasercutting and just make my own.
March 10, 20197 yr I'd be glad to make you some but, my laser isn't powerful enough to actually cut even through an 1/8" of wood.
March 10, 20197 yr Dragon, I've emailed an online friend that does custom laser cutting. Explained what you need. When she gets back to me, I'll send you her info.
March 11, 20197 yr I might be able to cut them on the CNC. A laser would probably give you a better cut.
