Ron Altier Posted March 6, 2019 Report Posted March 6, 2019 The black is Ebony and the red is wood that looks red uniformly red all the way thru. I got it at Rocklers and it is primarily used for pens. I don't know how they got the color all the way thru. The yellow one is Yellow Hart and colored ply. I had several glue ups ready to turn and these are the first of 6. All are Christmas gifts. Cal and Dadio 2 Quote

Gerald Posted March 7, 2019 Report Posted March 7, 2019 That ebony is nice and the red could be bloodwood or red heart, Love the patterns in the yellow one, Cal and Ron Altier 2 Quote
Steve Krumanaker Posted March 7, 2019 Report Posted March 7, 2019 Amazing how many different combinations you come up with. Hard to pick a "best" one from these two. Steve Ron Altier and Cal 1 1 Quote
Ron Altier Posted March 7, 2019 Author Report Posted March 7, 2019 Gerald, The unusual pink wood sure looks like a stain color, however it is so uniform, so pink. I went thru the stock of both Rockler and woodcraft websites and the only color remotely close is a variety of purple heart. I'll look thru my wood for a label. It is not a color I'd use much on anything else. Maybe a pen. You have me puzzled now. Cal 1 Quote

Ron Altier Posted March 7, 2019 Author Report Posted March 7, 2019 Gerald, I did find out that it is manufactured ply. When it is turned on a curve , two sides will appear as tho it has wood grain, as it does in the picture Gerald and Cal 1 1 Quote
