Popular Post hatuffej Posted February 26, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Hello I just found out that Rosie the Riveter (Naomi Parker Fraley) died January 20, 2018, at age 96. She was an American icon calling for women to step up during WWII. My Mom worked in aircraft repair at Hill AFB. My wife's Mom worked assembling artillery shells at a factory in Ontario, Canada. Millions of women supported our military while keeping the home-fires going. I salute them all. hat Edited February 26, 2019 by hatuffej p_toad, Dadio, Grandpadave52 and 5 others 1 7 Quote
Popular Post Gene Howe Posted February 26, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted February 26, 2019 Those women may not have been in combat but, they were heroines, nevertheless. Thanks, Hat. They deserve a right snappy salute. hatuffej, Dadio, Cal and 5 others 8 Quote

John Hello John I asked my wife and she doesn't know where her Mom worked assembling artillery shells. My wife was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. Her parents owned and operated Knoepfli Inn on the Magnetawan River at Ahmic Lake. I visited there once; its pretty country. Hat Grandpadave52, Cal and HARO50 2 1 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 Thanks Hat for the OP. Great tribute. Very few B-17's, B24's & B-25's would have made it out of the U.S. without those women in the factories as well as flying them to shipping ports. Some of those women logged more flight hours than the most experienced combat pilots. HARO50, hatuffej and Cal 3 Quote
