Popular Post IrishWoodCarver
So proud of my granddaughter - Anna and the progress she is making with her carving. She is a natural - she listens and follows directions and suggestions very well. Here is this years Christmas ornament for her Mom and Dad - a Fisherman ornament from Woodcarving Illustrated. Our schedules did not provide enough time to get it painted - but that will happen this week. Love you Anna! (BTW - her younger brother Cole is on his was into carving as well - just started teaching him the different cuts: push, pull and stop - he will be ready soon to tackle some basic carvings - Love you too Cole!) BTW - take note of the t-shirt Anna is wearing - LOL! DuckSoup, Grandpadave52, Artie and 5 others
HandyDan
Anna did real well with that carving. I have tried and didn't do as good of a job. FlGatorwood and IrishWoodCarver
Grandpadave52
Awesome Irish! Great to see Anna not only has the aptitude but also the attitude to learn carving. Of course having you to mentor her doesn't hurt either. What a Christmas gift passing on the passion of a craft to the next generation. Not all that different 2500+ years ago. Thanks for sharing with us here. Oh and BTW, tell Anna, I like her interpretation of the ornament much better than the example. Far more detail. Great job! Edit add...the t-shirt is great too. Gunny
Good to see the younger generation doing something not involving a phone. Nice shirt, had no idea we have shirts. FlGatorwood, Artie, IrishWoodCarver and 1 other

FlGatorwood
Congratulations to you, Artie. This is great and a wonderful feeling to see the young ones taking up the ageless arts and developing talents that may put food on their tables, roof over their heads and clothes on their backs. These kind of posts excite me to see young people learning.

I frequently accidentally mislead people (see what I mean), It’s not my daughter doing the carving (I do not have one of those, but am getting a daughter-in-law, in 2019). It is Irishwoodcarver’s daughter doing the carving. (And beautifully so, I may add) FlGatorwood
