Popular Post John Morris Posted December 24, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 24, 2018 Good Monday Morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Community News I want to thank those who have contributed thus far to our Annual Adopt a Wounded Warrior Family for Christmas Project. Funding is still rolling in thanks to the cheer leader efforts of a few of our Patriot Woodworkers who are encouraging folks to keep contributing! Some of our folks are even matching funds as they come in! On behalf of the Bassett family, I want to thank you all. I have had over 40 email communications with Michelle Bassett, as we had to strategically figure out what her boys wanted for Christmas and we discussed a few other project ideas, and here are just a few quotes contained in those emails. Quote "You beyond spoiled them! We have about 15 amazon gift bags under the tree! Thank you all so very very much! You have truly blessed us so much!" "I truly feel like God brought you all to my family and I can't thank you all for your beautiful hearts. You are such a blessing to my family." Michelle wrote regarding the biography we wrote on the project page: "This just made me cry happy tears! I couldn't have asked for a better bio! You all truly are an angel." "I cant thank you all enough as this year we actually weren't going to be able to have a Christmas. So you have truly blessed us more than you could ever know." Michelle Bassett, Wounded Warrior Wife, and Mom Though we have met our goal, there is still time to enter if you wish, the draw happens on New Years. Any funds collected over our goal, will be sent to the family in the form of a check. All funds for this project are used for this family. You all should feel really proud of what you accomplished in such a short amount of time! I'd like to give ya'll a big "Tip of the Hat" for a fine job done! Thank you all! Grandpadave52 Posted December 24, 2018 Report Posted December 24, 2018 Grandkids will be return home a little later today from their dad's where they've spent the last couple of days/nights. Still a few loose ends to finish up, Candlelight Christmas Eve Service tonight at 7P. Stockings still need to be hung by the chimney with care. Looking forward to a nice "quiet" family day tomorrow...well as much quiet as can be expected with 4+ & 7+ y/o boys on Christmas day. Blessing to you all and especially the Bassett family. May their Christmas be filled with joy, good memories and the tranquil spirit of the season. Al B, HandyDan, Cal and 1 other 4 Quote
DAB Posted December 24, 2018 Report Posted December 24, 2018 quiet day here, spent about 40 min in the shop this morning, doing a little mini-project for my wife. she needed a pair of different sized parts to hold her next counted cross stitch project she has just started. about 50,000 stitches needed (that's 50,000 cross stitches, which is actually twice that, as each stitch consists of 2 actual stitches, one from upper left to lower right, and the other from upper left to lower left, they form an X), so that should keep her busy for several months. and result in a beautiful piece of art for our home eventually. i don't have the patience to do such things. we'll be home tomorrow too, not going anywhere. just a few presents to open, she already got her presents a few months ago. i got a nice gift card from my BIL from Cabelas, but I don't know what i'll use if for yet. Luke 2:8-14 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Gerald Posted December 24, 2018 Report Posted December 24, 2018 We did Christmas yesterday and they left this morning. Went to PT after they left. Last night my DIL got knee deep in cleaning cabinets and rearanging the kitchen which my wife and i have talked about several times. I will spend some time in the shop this afternoon. Popular Post FlGatorwood Posted December 25, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 25, 2018 I wrapped the last 2 gifts and put them under the tree. Since we are those pesky vegetarians, no one wanted to eat our dressing or anything that I cooked. So, I asked if they would like lasagna or eggplant parmesan. They couldn't decide, so I purchased both. Will cook both in the morning, open gifts and spend some time with the parents and sister of the grandson you already saw. Today, while the washer and dryer were both on cruise, I saw a cherry head board curbside. I examined and picked it up. Going to cut off the broken legs and keep the panels for lumber. Beautiful cherry. Score! Bah! Humbug! Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza or Happy Hannuka, whichever you celebrate. From a busy little village along the northern Gulf Coast. Gunny Posted December 27, 2018 Report Posted December 27, 2018 After doing a good bit of cleaning up and putting every screw, chunk of wood or tool away I got serious and started working on my next shop improvement project. Last years Twin Table Saw project relocated a great many tools leaving me with empty drawers. Have had to share the routers and bits with a large drawer in this bench. Now empty I can start on making new drawers to fit all finishing supplies in one spot. Okay it is a theory people don't get excited. Drawing and specs done. Sorry I don't use ketchup, or whatever it is called. Somehow I manage.. Rather than fight with paint splatter I have decided to embrace it. The drawer faces will be base coated in aluminum and then splattered with every color I have in stock. See this way who cares if you have an oops, how would they know? Current drawer faces were made with scraps from cabinets from a closed Hollywood's video rental place. Was cheap at the time and I needed drawers and such so fit the bill. Ohio is lasagna. Mom always made a ham and a couple big pans of lasagna for Christmas dinner for as long as I can remember. We have been keeping the tradition. FlGatorwood and Grandpadave52 2 Quote
