American Workshop Show Observation

Featured Replies

I've caught at least parts of episodes the past three Saturday's (when the show runs here on one of our PBS stations) of American Workshop (Scott Phillips). All are listed as 2018 shows. I'm assuming the new season series but can't say for sure. Anyways, I've noticed all of his stationary tools are now again Rikon but anywhere the Rikon badge/name is on the tool, it is now covered with blue masking tape. Same for any of his Kreg stuff.

There was a period which he had migrated from Rikon to Laguna at least for the BS, lathe and I think TS...they're gone this season.

Woodcraft remains a show sponsor as does Kreg and Rikon. I'm assuming there is some conflict between he and the tool providers for endorsement $$'s or provided tools but only speculation on my part. Scott is listed as the show producer.. I don't recall that before either, but never paid much attention. His wife Suzie also has been absent in the three shows I've seen, but a "special thanks" to her appears in the credits.

Just an observation on my part but isn't effecting my BP, appetite, naps or the impending Martian invasion.

I don't watch his antics so I wouldn't know.

likely some PBS rule on commercial endorsements

Phillips is not on my favorites list.

Newsflash, they already did.

News Flash:  IF I take the "back way" from Sidney, OH to Piqua, OH....south of Lockington, OH is an old Quarry, now a lake....around the lake are a bunch of new homes...including Scott Phillips' place....

Haven't watched much of any of the PBS Shows for almost a year, now....

That explains the view of a lake from shots taken outside of the shop then...usually him and the two Australian Shepherds.

You're practically neighbors with him...might stop in and get a guest appearance on the show. Show him how to really use a plane,

Normally I'd say that  most probably rikon and Kreg probably stopped  funding.  Public Broadcasting has always has a dishonest  narrative to tell about  not advertising.  They do, they just do it differently from the  for profit  media houses.  They list  the names of sponsors and often  include a little something about them.   The sponsors enjoy association with the program and  everybody gets to profit.

However if you navigate to their website the sponsors brand names are proudly  headlining the main page.

Oh, I do! I record every episode and watch just to see what BS project he does next.

Then I sit there and scream at the TV "Scott, you're putting me to sleep, Scott". Then, at some point after that, I usually wake up and the program has ended. His program is the best sleep aide I've ever found for those afternoon naps.
