December 13, 20187 yr It's hard to believe, but it's almost time again for the Woodworking Shows. Kicks off Jan 4-6, 2019 in Baltimore. I missed the one in Indy the past three years due to conflicts. http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/schedule.html
December 13, 20187 yr It's been years since I've been to one, but I see they will be in Columbus in early March (much better than late Jan. like they used to do). There was so little there the last time I decided not to go anymore, maybe I need to check it out and see if it has grown. On thing that happens is that there's a large woodworking store in Columbus (Woodwerks) that has their own version of a show, usually the same time as the Woodworking Show. Well, I have lots of time to think about it.

Swim Sectional finals interfere on Saturday...Prelims are Thursday night unless weather forces a Friday reschedule which has happened before. Sunday would have to forego church.

December 13, 20187 yr Author The last time I went in Indy, attendance was pretty decent on the Friday. Most all the free seminar sessions were maxed out seat wise. IDK about SA/SU. It's held in one of the Pavilions at the State Fair Grounds. It usually is held the same weekend as the Gun & Knife Show. About 6 years ago the line to get in that show was ~1/2 mile+ long almost continuously. I see Jim Heavy is still traveling the circuit.

We will talk before then. I’ll meet you there.
December 14, 20187 yr used to live in the DC area, and we'd go to the Baltimore show each year. but now my shop is full, and there are no shows out this way. so if i need a tool fix, i'll wander down to Woodworker's Supply in Albuquerque and look around.

Went to Iraq for 3 years and when I came back in 2011 that was my reaction as well. Very disappointing. Went again in 2013 same result. Like others mentioned I have filled out with big machines and already have a sources for supplies and such. May take a chance and ask for a Saturday off. That will require a burnt offering to the boss.
December 14, 20187 yr Learned this week that Peachtree is not going to be part of the show tour this year. I pulled the coupons and there were none for Ptree. Sent a note and they replied saying it was due to family health issues. Understandable, but disappointing nonetheless.

I usually found something in their booth I couldn't leave without. Come to think of it, I don't think I've received a weekly email for a couple of weeks either.
December 14, 20187 yr Actually, as I remember it Peachtree was a huge part of the floor space the last time I went.

As long as you're close, a visit to Pappadeaux's would be in order. Ever visit the Woodcraft down there? Almost as big as WW's Supply. Edited December 14, 20187 yr by Gene Howe

They would have 10 plus pages of coupons and loads of items for sale. Prices were typically good so I took the opportunity to stock up. If you have gone to these shows for a few years you may recall the vendor Woodline that is now no longer part of the shows either. I asked Jim Heavey a few years back and if I recall the owner of that company was having health issues as well. Wondering if these shows are fizzling out.
December 14, 20187 yr I went to the one in Springfield Ma the last two years. Enjoyable, but not really worth the 3 hour round trip. Maybe if I had the funds to think about a purchase I might go this year, but right now, just thinking about taking a day off, staying at home.
