November 16, 20187 yr Jesse, I use Liberon 0000 for smoothing and waxing the final finish. It doesn't have any oils in it. Never tried it on bare wood, though. Or, you may be talking about synthetic pads that come in different colors. The white pad is extra-fine, approximately equivalent to 600-grit sandpaper; gray compares to 220-grit; maroon, 150-grit; and green, 100-grit. Usually available at the big box stores. Or most all online woodworking suppliers like Woodcraft. Amazon, too.
