tool boxes

Featured Replies

Anyone looking for tool boxes? I noticed that Sears has marked the prices down on their tool boxes. Probably trying to reduce their inventory. I noticed their 52" boxes in particular with the 10 drawer unit down to $405 from $645  and their 18 drawer unit down from $1125 to $720. No, I have never had any connections with Sears, just thought someone here might be interested. Seems like all their boxes have been reduced in price

They did something similar about four or five years ago. I bought an eight drawer with side shelf installed and a three drawer with lower storage, 26" wide roll cabinets for under $300 total.

With Lowes now selling Craftsman boxes, I'd guess the price point has to be a little more competitive. That and Sears is near bankrupt with something like $135M loan note coming due plus their 2Q losses.

I'm looking for a Sears store.  Just kidding but they closed the two that were close to me.

A lot of Sears stores are closing. The Sears by me is closing in December.

Full disclosure, I no longer cross the threshold of ANY Sears store. Mainly because of their warranty (or refusal to honor such) and the shoddy quality of the products.

Now for a word of advise. I have a Sears roll-a-way and top box that I purchased in about 1984. The metal retaining clips on the drawer slide work hardened and snapped. Sears was the only source for the replacements. Luckily, I managed to get the last available clips to fit my tool boxes. Enough to do the repairs and a few extras.

So, think before you spend that kind of money on a tool box and find out that, one you can't get Sears to honor their warranties, or two the parts to do any repairs/maintenance are non-existent.

Heard a little bit ago on the radio, Sears' stock dropped below a dollar/share today...looks like the end is near.
