My daughter Mary made me a dust pan in the 7th grade in 1987 in metal working shop. It is blue colored so I won't lose it. She gave it to me that Christmas and I have used it ever since. It stands about 18 " off the floor. It is very handy and means a lot to me.

Kudos to your daughter.  She did a great job.  I'm sure it means a lot to you sentiment wise but the older you get the more it means as you don't have to bend over as far also.

Amen to that, can't bend over and get lost going to the mail box and its only 70 feet from the house.

I like to see them do things that are non phone related and all three of my kids can do wood working and are mechanically inclined.

That is the coolest thing in the whole shop Preston! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the shop, you can have it all, I'll keep the dustpan my kid made for me, :)

Just wonderful. What a great, thoughtful daughter. As others have said, it's the item that would proudly remain in my shop forever.

Okay, now you’ve piqued my interest, I’d be interested in a follow up of since then, since according to my simple voke school math that was 31 years ago.

Its hard to believe but I have kids over 50 and yes that was 31 yrs ago. It has always been handy and I use it often. I brag more about what the kids do than what I do.

It's hard to find a good dustpan today...

The problem wit plastic ones is they get stepped on the shop and break and I'm too cheap to buy a metal one...
