speedway series laser level

Featured Replies

I have a speedway series laser level with no instructions. It is 15 & 1/2" long. This might be the one they call the 16". My problem is I can't see the red dot when the sun is out. I tried to go from shady spot to shady spot and the red dot won't show. I changed the batteries and still nothing. I got this at a garage sale. I tried a google search and really couldn't find anything. My wife says go out when it is dusk. Don't tell anyone but that may just work. Is it something I am not doing?

forgot a word

put your glasses on...

does it even work???

can you see it near total dark...

I think the laser light from this may not be very bright. The low power laser diodes work best in low light conditions. They make glasses that are supposed to enhance viewing the dot/line but I never found them particularly effective.

I'll wait till almost dark or use a string level.

Could your problem be that you didn't try it before you bought it? Or did they pull that, well it works but the batteries just now went bad for the last guy looking at it.. That's the line I like to use on suckers.

I do have one of those I bought at Lowes and its about 16".. Used it once then bought a bigger  model and have used it for many years leveling all my foundation forms....before the concrete .....I have a remote to turn it where I need the dot and turn it off and on when needed with the remote....A great invention.

If anyone has about the same thing,,,,,, Don't forget to remove the batteries when not gonna us it for a while. Mine uses the 9 volt batteries either two or three and the remote uses batteries also but can't remember what kind......

It has a big red dot but in the sun it does not show up.

Does it look like this one or at least pretty similar Preston? Many of the Speedway Series Tools are nearly identical to H-F products.

If so, this manual should be pretty much the same:  https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/69000-69999/69259.pdf

As Lew (& Stick) mentioned, the tinted glasses might help, but the low level power of this laser probably will only frustrate you for outside use...best suited for inside.

says a lot too...

Well actually I am way more honest than what that line indicated. I won't sell anything without having the people come and look and try what ever I am selling right there...and if they can't come to my house and look at my offering then I don't ship it..

Just like those two wood burning stoves I mentioned to Stick some time ago. I told him he would have to come and look them over I would not ship them without him seeing them first..

That's the reason I still have a shop full of Dewalt 788's. All the interested parties lived too far to come and try them out...9 now  and the seven that came from a high school do need some cosmetic parts. Students I found are usually not interested enough to wear anything out in a shop class but they have this thing about showing off and breaking things.  Like two of the red on and off buttons are cracked and pieces missing but the switch still works..Those switches don't break without some stupidity

IIRC...

you were going to GIVE me a pellet stove so an elderly lady could have heat..

later after saying I would come and get it you informed me that I had to BUY those two stoves...

all this despite you being informed that this was a group effort by several of us to give the lady heat and there was no money to buy those two stoves...

Still, it made no difference to you...

Stick, I hope to h___ you gave her a stove or did you just sit there and let her freeze to death?

Did she live up close to where you live???
