Smallpatch Posted July 7, 2018 Author Report Posted July 7, 2018 Other way around Tom. I had just bought these and was unloading them in to the shop. Sometimes it pays to take chances. Especially at school auctions. I took a chance for I never went and inspected the items up for auction for it was 180 miles away. And to my surprise only the seven 788's were listed to be bid on. There were two boxes of electric sanders, the two 1x42" sanders still in the pickup. 2 large 1/2" electric drills. And a few hand planes, nothing antique though and many drill bits and gauges and things a shop normally has.....I use to find this fairly common that they just didn't take the time to list any small items and just added them to the large stuff... Now most all the woodworking school classes have been closed and the equipment and tools done away with. Too bad. Now its computers.... Cal, Artie, HARO50 and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Joeb41 Posted July 15, 2018 Report Posted July 15, 2018 That is a shame that the schools are discontinuing the shop programs. When I was a kid (a long time ago) I couldn't wait for eighth grade, that's when our shop classes began. I attended shop classes until the 10th grade and then to vocational school for 11 & 12 where we had a week of shop then a week of academics. I was in heaven especially when the instructor asked me to help out teaching basic lathe turning. He had no experience in lathe work and I had a few years at it. In Massachusetts the excuse for discontinuing these programs is liability. Cal, Dadio, Artie and 1 other 2 2 Quote
Gene Howe Posted July 15, 2018 Report Posted July 15, 2018 (edited) Great haul. Now, you will never have to worry about finding parts. Or, to save time and effort, each machine could be set up with different blades or sanding grits. Edit...I added tags for you. Please feel free to add your own. Danl Posted July 15, 2018 Report Posted July 15, 2018 Great haul. No problem how with having spare parts. Danl Quote
