July 3, 20188 yr So I will soon be applying a stain and finish to red oak stair treads. Looking over the selection of products at Lowes I see that Minwax (and others) now market a poly specifically for floors. Do not buy what you have always used, use our more expensive and "made for floors" poly. Is there any real difference? I have not found it in anything less than gallon cans, and I will likely use less than a quart of it. I'm guessing if there is some difference that I could always thin the extra and have a lifetime supply of poly for future furniture projects... Have any of you done any hardwood floors lately? What did you use for a finish? Edited July 3, 20188 yr by Cal
July 3, 20188 yr Cal I used to work with a guy who redid basket ball court floors...Check around and see what they use...This is what I would want to use.....It might come in too large of containers for something like you are doing but at least you would have enough for the sheetrock walls, shower stalls, bathtubs and counter tops..
July 3, 20188 yr My son finished his wide pine board floors several years ago using Varathane for floors. The floors still look like new.
