July 3, 20187 yr So I have a machine I’ve been trying to get up and running with little to no help in getting where I am. I bought Cut2d to at least get it all to make something. But what I’m wanting to do beside woodworking is to do so gunsmithing with it. Make grips and do slide cutout. So so with that in mind which one is best, Aspire or VCrave?
July 5, 20187 yr I put my feelers out John to try to get an answer for ya, but no luck. Our CNC folks are missing in action unfortunately. They must of moved on to greener pastures! Our new CNC Forum was a wonderful test tube for us to see if there is any interest for this forum here, as you can see it started out well meaning but kind of went by the wayside. I think with CNC, they are looking for a more specialized forum experience, where the main subject of the forum is CNC, not a sub-category forum to a General Woodworking community such as ours, and that is completely understandable, we just don't have the CNC information or resources here, that a dedicated CNC forum has. I made up my mind a few weeks ago, this forum will be shut down at the end of the year, but I am very happy with the friends we met during the initial implementation of the CNC forum, there were some great folks here, some I still keep in touch with, so in that regard, it was all worth it! I hope you find your answer, perhaps a dedicated CNC Forum is more in line with your question. Thanks for trying John, appreciate it much!
July 8, 20187 yr If you want to be able to design your own grips and gun stocks and are looking for a Vectric solution then you would need Aspire so you can create the models required. If you want to use one of the many 3d modeling softwares to create the models you could import the models into VCarve Desktop/Pro and create your toolpaths to use on your CNC.
