Some one said you look like those cops standing there at the desk. I said hows that and she said they carry all their important things attached to their belts all around their body and it looks like you carry yours in your pockets.

 I showed her what I had planned on doing today instead of the emergency room. No big deal. Except the little pair of Vise Grips which usually are in this mess is missing from the picture..

I said the black marker is for after I get the tree out of the ground I can write on it as to which end is up as I go to replant it. I guess maybe I should have waited till after she found the vein with the needle...before I said that!

   You guessed it, the pecans are if I get hungry and have mud on my shoes.. They were in the freezer and I like to carry them in my pockets till they get thawed.

I'm guessing they had a metal detector ?    It all makes sense to me but what is the Purity Baking thing ?  Roly

Roly I never paid much attention to what a policeman has attached to their belts but now a days there is no extra space all around their body on their belts. Got to be 40 lbs or more they have to get used to.

  That is a small 6 foot tape measure. Something I have carried along with the Vise Grips and the pocket knife since the hitch in the army.. Not that exact tape for they only last a couple years for the lines disappear in the first inch or so.

Hey they taste even better frozen.

Wifiee is back to being kinda normal again. I say kinda for she was never ...She is back to being the lady of the house again. My lady. But still with the kidney pains..at least the emergency room people done a Cat-scan and pin pointed what was causing the problem..

  The emergency room people asked who her Urologist was so they could call him. He called back and said he was to old they should contact the Urologist group at the big hospital. They called and said they would have to have her primary care doctor give a recommendation...Like its not good enough for the recommendation coming from people who had found the problem but the primary care doc only had a urine specimen to go by...So this happened Thursday morning....

  So now the primary care doc has been notified to call the group Urologist and it will be next week before even the appointment can be made.   Meaning if all the correct steps are not made in order then someone along the line might not get paid..... No one worries about the patients as much as getting some of that money. And since this is real life, money talks here also. She also knows they used a word that is a little easier on ones mind than the dreaded word cancer. Which has to be tested before they know for sure.

  That same doc did the operation on my bladder and installed that stent and removes cancers when they show up...but knows when operating procedures should be passed on to younger people..

 Right now I only have a knife and a tape measure in my pockets so this is starting out as a day off.

Best of luck working through that bureaucracy. Hope your lady gets what she needs done real soon.

Healthcare is so messed up these days, I had to change to a different system to get a Doctor, they had forced out,my doctor that i have had since 1996, and I gave me  a PA,or a NP.

Being old fashioned like I am I wanted a male Doctor. I have one now but he is limited to 15 minutes a visit. He doesn't examine me ,just walks in sits down at a computer, asks some questions,type in some comments into the computer, says for me to go on line and read his comments and instructions, tells me to get an appointment for 3 months. walks out and thats it.

Jesse, my wife knows your story and frustration all to well.  For insurance sake, the primary doc needs to alert and recommend action from the specialist.  There may be other health issues which the primary care doc knows that the specialist is not aware of which may impact the decisions.  Danl

Sometimes you wish the doctors felt the same pain as the patient. Maybe that would speed up the whole process. Wishing the best for your wife. Hope you'll be able to fill those pockets again soon.

I think I will look for an 80 y.o. doctor so he knows what it feels like to get old.

Herb in 2010 I was passing blood. We found a Urologist in the yellow pages. Didn't need a recommendation back then..This doc was maybe my age so it was easier talking to him than a young man just out of his schooling....he took out 4 walnut sized tumors and told me I had cancer but not to worry for he said he would keep me on the healthy side as long as he was alive...besides  if a person had his choice of cancers to have, bladder cancer would be the one he would choose to have....seems like he knew a thing or two..good

 Things I didn't know at that time... so to move up a few years. In 2015 he tells me he was retiring at the end of 2015. He said health care had gotten so bad trying to keep up with the changes the best thing for him to do was to turn his badge in and hit the trail, retire to us patients....And he said another Urologist was doing the same for the same reason so I better look up all the same type doctors and get in on their list before they can't take any more patients. So we did that the next week.. Okay. got a new doc.... First thing I notice is all the equipment was totally different..This doc is maybe in his young fifties.... He can even see inside my bladder up there on a tv screen. He can  burn those tumors off in his office. The older doc had a hand held scope with a light bulb and a lens he could push up in the bladder but could see things on the other end of that wire he was holding... There were no tv screen anywhere. If when the old doc spotted a tumor, we had to go to the hospital the next week or so and spend that night there after the surgery.   I never had any thing to compare one doctor to another as to the equipment they would be using...The younger doc burns a tumor off in his office and I go home with no after effect.

  So Thursday the emergency room doc says you have a Cyst  on your kidney according to the cat-scan and I need to call your Urologist if you have one. We give him the name of the one who has been taking care of me, he says he is too old for this kind of surgery so call the Urologist Group at the big hospital... So the emergency room doc in charge calls them and they say they have to have a referral from our health care provider before they can do anything... A person walking down the street would think an emergency room doc in charge would have that kind of authority to make that kind of a decision. Especially since all the health care provider did was do a urine check.

  So Herb your choice of selecting a good doctor might have the same odds as pulling a handle at a slot machine in Vegas. Whups, can't use that comparison anymore...

Must be something going on with urologists. In a town of 8000, we've had two retire in the last 6 months. Neither one was over 60 years old.

It is the new heath system being run by non doctors IMHO. Ever since the insurance companies took over the healthcare system,things have changed. They say there is a shortage of doctors in the USA and have to bring them in from other countries. That is a whole nuther can of wormeys.

That is about the same time my Doctor retired too.

What you said about your new Doctor is the same thing I found out about my new dentist.

Everything is digital in his office, he scans my mouth and makes permanent crowns in about 20 min. from a small cube of porcelain in a printer w/2 heads in the back room. When they are installed they fit perfectly with not adjustments. One appointment to remove old crown,repair damage,make and install new crown, done, no impressions etc., pay the secretary on the way out.

Imported doctors ? Yeh ! I had a cardiologist who came here from India. All he did was feed me pills. I asked my primary doctor for a recommendation for another cardiologist. The new cardiologist ran several tests and discovered all of my arteries were almost completely clogged. He said I should have surgery before I have a heart attack. Another doctor and team performed the surgery. Ended up doing a quadruple bypass.. That was 10 years ago. Since there was no heart attack, no heart damage was done. Wonder where I'd be now if I continued seeing my Indian cardiologist.
