Eames Design

First off I love that show. Secondly, thanks Keith for putting this one up. I really liked this video, two more masters of design that today we take for granted but they most definitely were cutting edge, and their designs are still sought after to this day for high fashion and custom high end homes of the rich and famous. They did not however touch very much on the solid woodworking that they designed. Masters at bent lam.

Here is a wonderful chair and ottoman with bent lam woodwork. I love these.

Thanks again Keith, nice to see profound and in-depth information on our board, after all, to understand our work, we should know where it came from.

We got a family pass to to the Museum and Greenfield Village last year and made a couple of trips with grandkids.   We're planning to go back in September after school starts (and crowds die down).

A friend is moving to a retirement home and among his hoarding collection of tools (87 hammers last count), he has an Eames chair, or knockoff thereof, that he wanted me to fix.  Problem is, he is missing some of the parts (and "they're around here somewhere.")   This is the same guy that did some large diameter tapping for me a few years ago.   When he was done, he said, "Well, we need to get a washer on before the bolt now.  I just don't know where I put them."   I said, "In this cardboard box right next to me that says, 'Washers?'"  Sorry for the diversion, but like I said, he's a tool hoarder.

i remember seeing the powers of ten when i was in school.

I can relate to your friend's dilemma. Just changing the oil in my truck results in lost parts.:(

Missing parts??  Recently I 'lost' the right side ear piece, Me and the cook was looking all over, fussing bout how could it be . SUDDENLY I FELT MY EAR, THERE IT WAS!!!!!!!  Yes, we both laughed, said we'd have that'un to laugh about when we git old.

My idiot brother in law got himself one of those 2000 dollar stressless chairs.  I've tried it.  Don't like it.  wouldn't have paid $25 for it much less 2 Grand.  I can build a more comfortable chair myself.   In fact I built 9 of 'em.

This one is quite comfortable. Might have close to 2 grand in it if my time was worth about $50 an hour.

I had to go out last week and inspect one that was not working.   9 pages of diagnostics, and the controller has a many options as a smart phone. but most of boiled down to "replace the controller," or "replace the chair."   Too smart by half?
