After a couple of incidents when trying to rip with the  RAS, I sold mine and have never looked back . Don't miss it at all.. They are an accident waiting to happen!:excl:

I have a table saw for ripping, I just use the RAS for crosscutting. It is no different than any power tool, infact In the 45 years I was around these tools, the table saw takes the blue ribbon for accidents, next to the hammer.

even before they had these power tools , the hand saw claimed a few fingers.

next to the hammer.

Reminds me of a story one of my farm equipment customers years ago (Kenny) used to tell about a guy he helped doing roofing...hadn't thought about this in years.:)

They were replacing shingles on a barn when the roofer smacked his thumb pretty hard with the hammer:wub:...apparently it aggravated him so much, he took the hammer and a gave a mighty blow to the other thumb, stood up and hurled the hammer as far as he possibly could out into the pasture.

By the time he got down off the roof and retrieved his hammer both thumb nails were pretty black Kenny said. The roofer decided they would call it a day at that point. Kenny used to laugh so hard telling this story he always had to stop and wipe his eyes...

Well, since this has evolved into a discussion of using the RAS, I have one and love mine. Every project has something that goes across the RAS, mine replaced my miter saw...which I see as a construction tool as opposed to a woodworking tool. But that's after having owned 2 Craftsman and 6 Dewalts. The Craftsman both went to the recall. At one time I had 2 Dewalts in use, but the shop wasn't large enough for that so I sold one. It's my opinion that most folks who don't like an RAS cut their teeth on a Craftsman...and that's why they hate them. Sears tried to make it a one-tool-do everything and they came up with a design that does nothing well (usually). Getting them to return to 90˚ repeatedly is a common problem, neither of mine would...nor would they hold 90 after I spent hours tuning them. The old Dewalts (solid cast iron arms) and the Delta/Rockwell turret arm saws were made in a way that they didn't have those problems. My current saw is a Dewalt, a wreck from 1961 but is as accurate as all get out. I won'y give it up...and I never rip on it.

Totally agree, Fred. Especially about the Craftsman's alignment problems. And, those old Deltas and Rockwells were/are fine tools.

But, the Bosch SCMS is also a fine piece of woodworking equipment. Takes up less space, too.

My model and serial number qualify, they are sending me a box. Thanks for posting this.

I've also have a box coming for my saw.

I have one for which I applied for the 100$ deal----used the guard parts I received to upgrade the original. I use this for only 90 degree cuts------learned to fine tune 90 degrees by adjusting the fence. Use this saw almost every day and would hate to have to part with it-----works for me.

Yup, The same for me,Marv.

I sent it off about two weeks ago, waiting for a check.  :)
