A hard woodworking lesson learned

I have mentioned many times if you are taking a picture off the internet to glue on to some wood to cut out and make........something,

Be sure to make extra copies right then...I took a good looking clock off the internet and made two copies one for the pattern and the other to have something to go by while turning that picture in to a pretty clock...

The reason it is important to make several copies instead of just two, is if I loose some of the pieces during the process I can put the pattern back in the printer and make more pictures to turn into the pieces I lost.

Well I was thinking one clock for two daughters won't cut it so I will make both pictures in to patterns and make two IMG_0082.JPG.8d12339e372971253c5985dcf8b025de.JPGclocks at the same time.....

There went my pattern. I have lost the original picture I printed off the internet when a computer went out  some years ago.

I cut these pieces out for the two clocks out some time ago. But now I find the two clocks are different sizes. I have no picture to make more pieces and for sure the pieces I print out will be of different sizes than either clock..

All of these pieces interlocked for I cut the pieces around the dial from one piece of wood...Can't find all of either clock.. so even though this is the best way to make your own patterns don't forget to make way more pictures, patterns, than you will ever need. I always keep the original especially if I buy a pattern for I can keep making the same item forever as long as I have a printer, or if no printer, take it to a business supply that makes copies. Unhandy sure since I noticed the cost of an all in one printer is down to twenty dollars...

I was going to do this clock like it should be made and I curved the back sides to match the curved fronts on the lower pieces.IMG_0086.JPG.d35bfc76418589203f86888c7053f598.JPG

I hate it when that happens!

Lost 2 complete sketchup projects, somehow. I thought I saved them but they are nowhere!

COME BACK HERE BUCK....ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE LITTLE FLOWERS I CUT OUT WITH THE SCROLL SAW AND HAVE THEM LAYING ALL OVER.  MAYBE 14 OR 15 FLOWERS IN ALL. I AM JUST CHECKING TO SEE WHAT I WILL USE TO ATTACH THE WOOD I BUILT TO HOLD THE CURVED LENS OVER THE CLOCK DIAL...I VISION 4 SCREWS HOLDING THIS WOOD ON TO THE BODY OF THE CLOCK. I DON'T WANT THE 4 SCREWS TO SHOW SO AM GONNA USE THE LITTLE FLOWERS ON TOP OF THE SCREWS.

I WILL POST A PICTURE LATER....

Why are you screaming?

Sorry Buck...we all have those kind of days; well at least I do. Let me (us) know what we can do to help. I can be there in, oh, 14-1/2-15 hours or so.:P I know ya' got coffee and sweet tea so I'm good there...not to big on grits though;) but some Southern fried chicken, biscuits & gravy shore sound good...oh and some pecan pie.

Hang in there my friend..."this too will pass..."

Sorry to hear that Buck, hope things get better as the day goes on.
