I found this picture today and it is one of the few I have with me in uniform.  My daughter was born 2 days after I left for S.E.A. and I had been home maybe a month when this picture was taken so we had just recently "met" for the first time. BTW, that was a few pounds ago.

That's so cool Ron, 'er Sarge. Bet this brings back a lot of memories

You got the rank right, Dave.  I made E-4 when I was overseas. By the way, I loved that bike.  Our apartment was just across Barksdale Blvd. and maybe a mile from where I worked so I rode to work almost every day.

We'll, the hairline was receding at that point.  When I was overseas, the hair was really put my for the military. We were working 12 hour shifts, 28 days straight and the three days off.  We then shift to the opposite 28 day shift.   Haircuts weren't a big priority. We were busy keeping B-52s loaded with bombs.   

Gosh Ron, Except that you're holding your daughter, and the insignia on the pocket, that could be a picture of me when I was in the Air force. That slim build, the 3 stripes and the sun glasses look familiar. Not like that anymore.  Boeing was still testing the B 52's across the runway during my time in the Air force.

Pressed fatigues? Must have been an inspection day.

Al, when I was overseas we had our beloved SAC patch "modified" by a local embroidery shop,  The Thais would do anything for money.  I'll be discreet but we removed the lightning bolts and olive branches and replaced it with a male body part.  We wore them for quite some time before the first shirt caught us.  He laughed and told us to lose them.  I have often wished that I had kept one of them.

Stateside Gene.  Need I say more.  We were 2nd AF HQ and I was on a high profile training team.

• The first fatigues issued to me had the white lettering on the blue ribbon, then around 1980, I think, they went to the subdued style. Pretty sure I no longer possess any of them, as they stopped fitting a lot longer ago, then I want to remember LOL. If I can do this correctly (looks like I changed my font, somehow. It ain’t easy being me LOL) I’m gonna upload a copy of our military wall, from the living room. First picture on the left is my brother Paul USAF 1980-84, only picture ha has of himself from those days. Next is my Wife’s Grandfather-He was in the mountains of Italy wwII, never heard him talk about it, but from what I’ve read, kinda like Iwo Jima, but in a snowy mountainous way. Next picture is one of my Father-in-law, getting the game ball after a game in Vietnam Nam, He had passed on, before I met the Missus, So I didn’t get to know him, Center picture, drumroll please, ME USAFR 1978-82, next picture was my father, USA tail end of Korean War, didn’t get any closer to it than Japan. He LOVED Japan. Next photo is of my Grandfather  (on Mom’s side) He is in front of an Indian trading post in Alaska. He tried to enlist during WWII, but he had 3 kids, and they weren’t taking fathers of 3 into the service at that time. So he asked what could he do, and they suggested helping out as a civilian on building the Al-Can Highway. So he went up there and did that. Last picture is of my brother’s son, he was  USMC, did a tour in Iraq, after that he was heading to Afghanistan when the ship he was on got the Swine flu so bad, they just let it run it’s course while the ship was in the Mediterranean (?). They were getting sent back home afterwards when the earthquake hit Haiti. They were deployed there as security. He hated it, went 9 days without a shower, only running water was onboard ship, They were afraid that they might have to fire on civilians, rushing the supply helicopters/trucks, but the chaos never got to that extreme thankfully. So hopefully after all this inconveniencing of electrons, the picture uploaded, and I can get used to the new font LOL.

Ron, I hope your daughter has a copy of that picture. It will probably mean as much to her as it does to you. Just a thought, you could try a modern day re-enactment of that photo, bike could turn into a motorcycle ? Sorry, that’s just how my mind kinda works.
