source for good but cheap screws

They do auto speaker systems but sell screws cheaper than  they should

And, if you like using stainless steel screws, have a look at "Stainless Town."  I used  them wherever I could when I restored my last Model A.  Very reasonable prices and fast, low cost shipping.

I'm lucky.  Have a local surplus store that has such a nice supply of screws and such at $0.080 a pound. There is inflation in surplus too.  Used to be $0.20 per pound.  Yeah, that was a while ago.

A good cheap screw? No comment.

Most of those don't seem suitable for wood-to-wood connection because they have threads all the way up to the head.   And I don't use Phillips.

I've had my fill of cheap screws in some of the Chinese furniture I've had to fix.  Top notch screws might have cost them less than 50 cents on the whole piece, but they put in some screws that are the cheapest they can find.   So they break or strip and it takes about an hour to extract and repair.  I'd rather spend a few cents more than time struggling with a failed connector.

I've been using Deerwood that I get from wwhardware.com.   For nuts and bolts, it's tough to beat Rural King or Tractor Supply that sell grades 2, 5 and 8 by the pound.

"There is hardly anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and those people who consider price only, are this man's lawful prey. It is unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much you lose a little money - that is all.   When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.    The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot; it cannot be done.   If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better"
