In a time  crunch for finishing x-mas gifts I was making miter splines with my bisci' and made  this jig in about a minute.... I always laugh when I see how funny me temporary  jigs look. Anyone else have some funny ones out there? Lets see' em!

I made a "lazy susan" assembly table due to the extremely small area I have to work in. Temporary jigs are nailed, taped or screwed to the plywood surface. They only last long enough to do the task and then are scrapped so I can continue using the table.

My kinda jig.   Unless it's something I"m going to use over and over, I am not going to spend half a day making a jig to save 30 seconds.

Thinking of my jigs

  • Sliding crosscut table -- if I'm not ripping, I'm using it
  • Second sliding crosscut table -- use this one for large pieces (>18" wide) or bevel cuts
  • Miter sliding table -- picture frames and mitered corners
  • Raised panel jig -- holds the piece clamped down at 10 degrees -- don't have to tilt the saw blade and worry about the piece slipping down the insdert
  • Biscuiting jig - clamps pieces down so I can put two hands on the tool
  • Spline-key cutter (this was a 10 minute jig that I've used dozens of times)
