December 11, 20178 yr We all get so many solicitations for all kinds of charities. I get them every day. I do support some of them, including wounded warriors. I got one from the VFW that really puzzled me. On the back side there was a clear window that showed a crisp new one dollar bill. On the inside was their appeal for help. It said the dollar was mine to spend any way I wanted. In that appeal and in big bold letters was "EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS" Am I missing something here?
December 11, 20178 yr The March of Dimes does the same type of solicitation. They include a dime in the solicitations. This must work for them as they keep doing it. I can only assume, that, they get people to donate more than they send out during the overall campaign. However, a $1 bill seems a little extravagant!

December 13, 20178 yr It seems that if you are a somewhat regular donor, they try to encourage you to do more. I've gotten the requests with 4 quarters attached to the request, as well as getting them with the dollar bill attached. While I do like to help the veterans who need it, I think the mailing of cash is intended to make you feel compelled donate more. I've also been getting checks for $2.50 to be cashed, and a dollar bill. They say you can keep the money or return it with your donation Lately I've opted to tear up the checks and keep the dollar bill.
December 14, 20178 yr The Eagles here in town will have a Fish Fry this Friday......I might enjoy THAT donation better.....Already have been to the Legion's fish/chicken fry.....
