Crescent Multi-Tool

Interesting concept.  Menards has them on sale for $6.99 this week

That's a great price!

When I see one of these demo videos, I am always reminded of this guy-

That's a classic.   Always liked the first couple of rows with Visqueen and the watermelon!

...as for the Crescent tool...years ago Sears sold these wrenches (not the multi tool). I got one for Christmas one year. I only used it once or twice and that was enough. It was a pain to use and slipped off of every nut and bolt head I tried it on. Especially, if it was tight quarters. It has been in my roll-a-way for probably the last 25 years without being used.

Personally, I don't find multi tools all that great. Even the better ones; Leatherman, Beretta, and another brand I have, are heavy and although well made just don't do the job(s) as well as a dedicated tool. I do keep one in the boat tool box for "just in case", but I didn't like them on my belt full time.

...as for Gallager...I saw him at St. Bonaventure's University, in Olean NY, back in the 70's. I was smart enough to sit back a few rows, just "out of range". The show was absolutely hilarious. Most people see him only doing the Sledge-o-matic skit(s), but he was really a very funny stand up comedian.

Would be great to carry in the jeep if it worked as advertised.

I found they are real finger pincers too

For a while the multi-tools were popular...I don't see people carrying or using them much anymore. So, I'll assume that more people agree with me then not...

There may be a time and place for them...for others, maybe, for me rarely.

Like you, I've got three or four of them...Keep one in the truck glove box and maybe have used it once or twice in 15+ years. I have a Leatherman that was in a bucket of stuff I bought at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. I do use that one quite frequently during the spring and summer. I carry it in my pocket when I'm weed-eating; Use it to retrieve the broken line end in a spool...all the gizmos on it plus the needle nose work great for that 95% of the time but I also carry extra spools for when it doesn't. Trimming around 4+ acres saves a lot of trips back to the garage.

Other than that, I have a couple in my tool box (gifts) I don't think I've ever used...I just automatically go to the right tool for the job. As herb noted, saves a lot of pinched fingers. Now, I'd be lost w/o my pocket knife though.

Yeah, well, when I'm working on-site, I have a well-tuned tool tote.   Rarely do I not have a single-purpose tool that I need.  The multi purpose tools that do come in handy are a

I agree on the tool and yes I actually have 2 waay back in the rolling tool cart. I think it was a 2 for deal. Used a time ot two and either would not fit into the space or just did not work.

Interesting, I have had a lot of these tools.  Never found a good use for them, I typically do not open them and instead "regift" them to others...  but none of y'all are on my list, so I don't know where they all came from!:D

Darn it keith, I wish I'd seen this before I went and bought my metric one. :BangingHead:

Now, I'm hesitant to buy that set of digital screwdrivers. As soon as I get them, we'll see ones with on/off switches.

Do they come in purple?:D
