WOW! Building materials such as drywall, base trim, insulation, doors (lots of them), and paint were flying off the shelves today when I stopped at Home Depot. In case some of you don't know, we were in the path of Hurricane Harvey. There is a tremendous amount of work going on. Fortunately for us, our house escaped the rising flood waters.

One of the reasons I was glad the drywall guys showed up to do my job a few weeks ago was I believe there will be a big shortage of drywall and other stuff after all the storm starts getting repaired....not only Harvey but Irma and Maria as well. Glad you escaped the worst of it.

They must be bringing it in from somewhere else because there doesn't seem to be a shortage. I have been to several of the big box stores in and around my area (east side of Houston), and it is stacked to the ceiling. And amazingly, they have 3/8, 1/2 and 5/8 inch in stock.

I do remember that during a previous shortage some years back some outfits imported Chinese drywall. As I recall there were a lot of problems with the stuff over the following years. At least the stuff they put in my shop was US made, I checked when they delivered. But you're seeing the same thing I am, no shortage (yet) and the prices haven't gone up (yet).
