Finishing for 2017

Featured Replies

Got the hard-copy of this in the mail yesterday.   Have not had time to read it all, but some good reading so far.   Oriented toward production shops but still useful.

Having just visited Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum, was enlightened to see that original Model Ts were painted with a paint brush.   Need for faster application and drying time led to development of lacquers and wood finishing benefited from auto paint technology for quite a while.

I have a friend who restored Stanley Steamers. I was totally amazed at the fact they were largely made of wood but the finish was equal to that of a piano.

Morgans, still made that way.

Great bunch of articles in that E-mag. Be sure to catch Bob Flexners article, #10.

Is there a trick to using that link...all I got was a bunch of gobbledy-gook that looked like this:

That site came right up for me, Fred. But, the YouTube video about Morgans wouldn't.

Just went back to that video. Refreshed the page twice and it finally appeared. Have you tried refreshing?

Just did the refresh thing, didn't help. Although I get a different message about it not being found. Oh well.

I found the e-mag on another site and, it said adobe flash was required.

Interesting to see the work and that they have some younger people working there.  :)
